SOLANGE - A SEAT AT THE TABLE
This album. I don't even know where to start. The entire body of work from start to finish is poignant, timely, soulful and necessary. Solange has been working on this album for some time now and it was worth it.
"A Seat At The Table" even includes two things I'm usually not a fan of with albums: too many songs (because most end up being filler and I believe in quality > quantity) and interludes (unless done right). Solange somehow managed to seamlessly pull both off. The interludes are short, to the point and meaningful -- especially her mother's, "Tina Taught Me," which touches on the controversy over #BlackLivesMatter and black pride.
This is Solange's best work yet and she's definitely come a long way since her debut album, "Solo Star." You don't want to miss out on this one.
